What Does Tndnet Stand For?
Tndnet is an acronym derived from “Thinking&Doing”, which reflects our network’s commitment to addressing real-world problems and producing applicable knowledge in the fields of law and public policy. By combining investigative (positive) and prescriptive (normative) approaches, we aim to foster effective solutions and insightful discourse.
We are excited to announce that Tndnet.org is actively reorganizing and resuming its conferences, under the leadership of Professor Ivan Ribeiro. Established in 2004, our network has hosted two international conferences and three working meetings, bringing together scholars from diverse backgrounds to foster dialogue and advance research in public policy and law.
Our Journey So Far:
First World Conference: Held at the University Memorial Center, University of Colorado, Boulder. This two-day event featured 17 original papers from researchers representing countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Canada, Vanuatu, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cyprus, Argentina, and others, covering all five continents.
Second Conference: Took place in 2007 at the University of Iceland, Reykjavik, closely following the 11th Conference of the ISNIE (now SIOE). It focused on new scholarly contributions by emerging researchers and professors, discussing nine unpublished papers.
Recent Activities:
Post-conference, we have conducted workshops in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2013), Berkeley, California (2014), and New Haven, Connecticut (2020), continuing our commitment to real-world issues and the production of applied knowledge in law and public policy.
Upcoming Events:
Third Tndnet Conference: Scheduled for June 5-7, 2024, in São Paulo. This event will be a joint conference with the Conference on Empirical Legal Studies – CELS Global Brazil 2024, sponsored by the Centro de Estudos da Ordem Econômica (CEOE/Unifesp), Graduate Program in Law (PPGD/UniRio), and supported by a broad array of educational and research institutions. More details are available at CELS Brazil 2024 https://ceoe.org.br/cels-brazil-2024/.
Fourth Tndnet Conference: Planned for 2026 in São Paulo, themed “Public Policies and Governance.”
Stay Tuned:
Our website is currently under construction, but we are working hard to create a dynamic platform that will serve as a valuable resource for our members and the public. We invite you to join us in our mission to blend investigative and prescriptive approaches to tackle real-world challenges effectively.
Thank you for your interest in Tndnet.org, where we think and act on the forefront of public policy and law.
